Salvete Familiae! Hello families! I am Ms. Wagner and I am teaching Latin to the children at PS 30M. Did you know that almost 80% of the words we use in English are derived from Latin? Right now the lower grades are learning about Animals.--Animalia Horti et Animalia sylvestri.

Welcome to Latin! This year, we made a garden mural and will prepare a mural of the forest to house our collection of animals.  We are using positional words to talk about our animals and where they live.  The upper level is currently studying about Pompeii.  They are learning through different genres of literature--magazine articles, ancient letters, historical fiction and non-fiction text. We are using maps and diagrams to learn more about volcanoes to understand about that fateful day in 79 AD when Mount Vesuvius erupted! The scientists have predicted another eruption and some children have predicted that they will be 67 years old when that day may come. Vale familiae! -Magistra (Antonia) Wagner
